TIRE MAINTENANCE GUIDE

Proper tire care isn’t just about performance, it’s about safety, longevity, and getting the best ride every time you hit the road or trail. Keeping your tires in good condition and maintaining the correct PSI ensures better handling, improved traction, and reduced risk of failure, all while extending the life of the tire. This guide breaks down the essentials of tire maintenance and why proper inflation matters, helping every rider stay confident, prepared, and protected wherever their journey takes them.

1. Why Correct PSI Matters

Shinko states every 4 PSI lost cuts load capacity by ~60–70 lbs; under‑ or over‑inflation harms stability and handling. Check PSI before every ride, cold.

2. Set & Check PSI

Use the pressures specified by your motorcycle manufacturer (owner's manual) and never exceed the max pressure on the tire sidewall. Check PSI cold; recheck with passengers or luggage.

3. Break-In

Ride ~100 miles at moderate pace, avoid max acceleration and hard lean angles, to scrub mold release and let you adapt to the tire's feel.

4. Repair Policy & Sealants

Shinko does not recommend repairing damaged street tires or using liquid sealants; unseen internal damage can cause sudden failure. Dirt tires may be restored with a new tube if no external damage is present.

5. Fitment, Construction, & Use Cases

Fitment: Replace with OEM sizes from your owner's manual; avoid upsizing without manufacturer approval.

Cruiser: SR777 (including Heavy Duty and Reflector variants) provides stability, load capacity, and wet/dry traction.

Sport/Sport‑Touring: 016 Verge 2X uses dual‑compound and steel belting for grip + mileage; 010 Apex focuses on high‑speed stability.

ADV/Dual‑Sport: Shinko 705 and E804/E805 are established mixed‑terrain choices.

Drag/Track: Hook‑Up Drag Radial and 003 Stealth focus on straight‑line traction.

6. Cleaning & Storage

Cleaning: Mild soap and water only, no solvents or solutions.

Storage: Keep tires in a cool, dry, dark space away from ozone sources (motors), and off bare concrete (best practice).
